Previously, I outlined what items would be available for preordering Little Big Planet. They have now announced all of the retailers that will carry the preorder bonuses and which they are.
I’m really surprised at the amount of marketing and work going into this game, to have more than 2 or 3 preorder bonuses at so many retailers is pretty amazing. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come.

The guys and gals over at the Gamerscore Blog have officially announced today that the Xbox 360 is the cheapest current gen platform available today. On September 5th, the “estimated prices” (what does that mean?) will be:
- 360 Arcade - $199.99
- Xbox 360 - $299.99
- Xbox 360 Elite - $399.99
Hopefully the price reduction will help the Xbox’s faltering sales. With thost prices, I’m tempted to pick one up myself…afterall, winter is coming up and I do need a heater.

Anand Agarwal, Product Manager for Peripherals at Sony, wrote up a post on the official Playstation blog detailing some features of the PS3 Bluetooth Headset that we didn’t know about. There are some pretty cool features listed including a High-Quality mode that should increase sound quality and provide noise cancellation, the ability to use it as a free standing microphone when it’s charging in it’s cradle, as well as the ability to see details regarding your headset on screen when paired with the PS3. Most of this will require a firmware update with more details at a later date.
You’ll be able to pick it up this fall (no release date on it by itself) for $49.99 or for $10.00 more, you can get it bundled with SOCOM Confrontation when it hits this October, priced at $59.99. Hit the jump for more details!

Sometimes the announcement of a beta makes me nervous, thinking about all of the possible downtime, bugs and glitches I’ll have to deal with. Sometimes a beta test makes me gitty with excitement. Consider the news that LBP will get a public beta this month in the latter category.
A post on the Playstation forums has confirmed that Sony and Media Molecule plan to hold a public beta test this month. The details are a bit sparse, but here’s what they had to say:
There will be a limited public beta test for LittleBigPlanet in September. If it will be possible to “sign up” for this test, full information on how to do so will be made public in advance of the test. Similarly if the test is going to be conducted in an invitation-only we will let you know ahead of time.
Check out the post here.
P.S. Have I mentioned recently how much I love Little Big Planet and am looking forward to it?

I found myself at Bumbershoot this weekend waiting to see the Stone Temple Pilots on their reunion tour. While wandering around aimlessly, I managed to stumble across the Guitar Hero: World Tour RV of promo goodness. After flagging down and chatting up one of the rather unenthused and bored looking boothbabes, I was able to score a couple of tries playing the game. Hit the jump to see what I thought.

Uh oh…looks like I’ve been branded. PS3fanboy.com was smart enough to bring a camera along (I’ll learn some day, I swear) to the Playstation Blog free donut event where I was robbed of a new PS3! They managed to snap some pictures of me! I’m the unshaved asian guy in a brown shirt. There’s even a picture of *MY* PSP with me playing it! Totally sweet!

The full list of Fallout 3’s Xbox 360 achievements have been dug up by the people at Xbox360Achievements.org. Most of them look to be generic “kill x number of bad guys” and the various completetion of the game’s chapters, but there are a few that involve reaching a particular level with good, neutral, and bad karma so it will take at least 3 play throughs to get them all. The one that looks particularly fun is placing a grenade or mine while pickpocketing. Can’t wait for this one!
My friend Phil and I attended the Playstation Blog meetup today at Top Pot Donuts in Seattle. According to Facebook, there were 96 people confirmed to attend…which is a lot to cram into a donut shop. I didn’t do a headcount (can’t count that high anyway), but it looked like quite a few people showed up. There were free donuts and coffee and I got to meet Jeff Rubenstein (Sony Social Media Manager and blogger). They passed out swag bags which contained a PS coffee mug and shirt, however Phil and I arrived a little late and only got the mug, wanted the shirt, maybe next time.
It was good times overall! They raffled off five vouchers for the PSN download Bionic Commando Rearmed, seven copies of WipEout Pulse for the PSP, and a PSP Core bundle.
They also held a PSP tournament where we were competing for a limited edition Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3. Phil and I both entered…and Phil sucked. But that’s okay. :) There were four elimination rounds of 8 players. The top two from each round went on to the final round. During my round, I came in first by about 5-6 seconds.
However, in the finals, I didn’t win unfortunately, I was first place for a while, then got zapped and thrown back to fourth place. Lame I say! The finalists were able to keep their copy of WipEout Pulse which was a nice parting gift.
Overall, it was good times. Cool to hang out with a bunch of Sony geeks and hope to do it again soon!
That’s the title of an essay written by Henry Jenkins, a professor at MIT. It’s a good essay that points out a lot of eye opening information. It’s a great message and a step in the right direction to redirect the aggression away from video games and back onto the things that truly impact negative and violent behavior in children. Hit the jump for the essay…

Okay, remember way back when, when I announced the LBP boxart? Yeah, apparently that was just for Europe, as Kotaku noted, the pink and the suggestive lips were probably too risque for us here in the west. Now they’ve announced the NA boxart…for really reals. Like…for reals. Hit the jump for loads of awesomeness and cuteness bundled together into the REAL boxart.
