Looks like the Xbox 360 exclusive DLC for Grand Theft Auto IV is going to be released at some point in November. The only real information we have on what the content will be is that there will be two seperate ten hour episodes. There has been speculation on wheter it will be new cities, new side missions, or something else entirely. Looks like I need to get around to beating this game so I can check out the new stuff.
The guys and gals over at the Gamerscore Blog have officially announced today that the Xbox 360 is the cheapest current gen platform available today. On September 5th, the “estimated prices” (what does that mean?) will be:
- 360 Arcade - $199.99
- Xbox 360 - $299.99
- Xbox 360 Elite - $399.99
Hopefully the price reduction will help the Xbox’s faltering sales. With thost prices, I’m tempted to pick one up myself…afterall, winter is coming up and I do need a heater.
Microsoft and Rock The Vote have worked together to create a system that allows Xbox owners to register to vote on Xbox Live. This is amazing initiative and hopefully we’ll see Nintendo and Sony jump on board as well. I think these past 8 years have proven that it’s more important than ever to cast your vote! Hit the jump for the press release:
Joystiq is reporting a rumor that the Xbox 360 will see a price cut next month. A Radio Shack flyer is displaying prices for Xbox 360 Elites at $399.99. With the current pricing structure this would force the other systems to all bump down $100 each, putting the Arcade system at $199, cheaper than the Wii. Perhaps it’s time for me to finally pick up an Xbox? Perhaps not.
Microsoft announced today that Fable II has an official release date. If the Target Pre-order cards are to be believed, then this means Fable II will compete directly with LittleBigPlanet. Seeing as how I don’t own an Xbox360 myself, the choice won’t be so hard…but for those that own both…well…get LittleBigPlanet.
The guys over at the XBox 360 Fanboy site have recently been sent a collection of artwork of Microsoft’s new Avatar system for Xbox Live from a “super secret source.” They have put up a collage of all the images they were sent, which can be found here. Although there is no indication that they are legit, if they are its looking like quite a bit of thought has gone into the number of ways you can customize your avatar.
In a recent interview with the people over at the Official Xbox Magazine, Valve’s Marketing Director Doug Lombardi talked about his company’s plans for their games on the Xbox 360. He explained that the Portal: Still Alive game that is in the works for XBLA is the whole original game, with some new challenges that you can unlock. As far as DLC for the game, Lombardi says that if there is demand is there, they will release it. He also mentioned that Team Fortress 2 could be getting some of the PC updates, once they have enough content ready. There is also the potential for some classic Valve games to be released on XBLA, but Lombardi wouldn’t commit to anything.
Check out the full interview here.
Too Human is an action/RPG dungeon crawler being developed by Silicon Knights for the 360. It has recently been given a release date of August 19th, so I thought I would take this chance to play through the demo and see how it was. Hit the jump for the review.
The guys over at Kotaku had a chance to talk with Valve’s Doug Lombardi about the upcoming XBLA title Portal Still Alive. During the talk, when asked whether GLADoS would be lighting up the game with her charm or if there would be any new storyline or plot elements, his response was:
“No,” he said, breaking hearts everywhere. “That’s for a game to be named later perhaps.”
So, then what’s the point? While the gameplay is fun and enjoyable, it was GLADoS that made the game what it is. Looks like this XBLA exclusive won’t be one I’m going to miss.
