Percocet + Blogging = Nonsensical babble

Hey everyone, sorry for the lack of content over the past few days.  I’ve had to deal with a bit of a health issue and am slowly recovering.  So, with me being all hopped up on percocet and me moving this weekend, content will be light.  My apologies.  Next week though, I’ll be ramping back up to normal speeds.

Thanks!

Jet Grind Radio Might Be Making A Return On The Wii

The guys over at Kotaku reported today that there are rumors going around that SEGA might be resurrecting the Jet Grind Radio series, which originated on thier own Dreamcast, and has also appeared on the Xbox and the Game Boy Advance. Having played the hell out of the original game, I’m very excited to hear that it might be in the works. SEGA recently filed for a new trademark for JGR, which includes some services indicating that there might be some DLC, and that it could be available on a hand-held system. I’ve got my fingers crossed for lots of cel-shaded, roller blading love from SEGA.

Valve Talks XBLA

In a recent interview with the people over at the Official Xbox Magazine, Valve’s Marketing Director Doug Lombardi talked about his company’s plans for their games on the Xbox 360. He explained that the Portal: Still Alive game that is in the works for XBLA is the whole original game, with some new challenges that you can unlock. As far as DLC for the game, Lombardi says that if there is demand is there, they will release it. He also mentioned that Team Fortress 2 could be getting some of the PC updates, once they have enough content ready. There is also the potential for some classic Valve games to be released on XBLA, but Lombardi wouldn’t commit to anything.

Activision Blizzard Makes Some Cuts

Yesterday, ActiBlizzard announced a list of games that it would continue to publish through Sierra. Missing from that list are two games that this blogger was looking forward to: Brütal Legend and Ghost Busters. Also on the chopping block were 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, WET, and a few others that I’m a little less excited about. Games they are keeping? Crash Bandicoot, Ice Age (cause movie adaptations always work well…irony to follow) and Spyro the Dragon.

So, here’s my question: WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!?

I’d Like My VW With a Side of PSP

Looks like Sony and Volkswagen have teamed up in Europe to release a couple of collaborations. First is the new VW Polo w/ PSP and then the older, but still cool, VW Passat w/ PSP. The former is showing off the PSP as a GPS device and the latter appealing to parents and children with a PSP dock allowing their kids to play games, or to mount their PSP and watch movies. Similar to the VW Beetle w/ iPod, it’s cool to see them marketed together, but certainly not something that couldn’t be done with any old car out there. The marketing materials are kinda fun though and marrying two very well built products is never a bad idea in my book!

California Game Law Blocked By Judge

On Wednesday, July 23rd, US District Judge Ronald Whyte ruled that the law enacted in October was unconstitutional and should not be enforced by courts.  The law was one of many state-wide laws that would restrict mature content in games.

The law that is being blocked by the California Judge is a counterpoint to the law that was recently enacted in New York.  The law in New York appears to be designed to help parents make informed decisions regarding the games that their kids are playing, rather than restrict what can and cannot be in a game.

Star Trek Online - Engage!

Cryptic Studios appears to have revived the dead-but-not-quite-forgotten Star Trek Online.  There’s no news on a release window or any other information really aside from a few screenshots (nothing too exciting, no gameplay).  They do say that they’ll be releasing gameplay footage at the Annual Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas on August 10th which they will be Webcasting.  Personally?  I’m hoping with something as solid and rich as Eve but more accessible and faster paced progression and action.

PS3 Greatest Hits Launches Today

Sony’s catalog of what they consider to be their greatest hits launches today at a budget price of $29.99.  Looks like now’s a good as time as any to pick up some games I might have missed, like Motorstorm.

Anyone else see the irony in the Bluray games in red cases?

XBLA Five Weeks of Awesome

From now through August, the XBLA will be seeing 5 new arcade games coming down the pike.  Most of them look pretty sweet and one of them is the long awaited Bionic Commando:  Rearmed!  Hit the jump for the release schedule

  • July 30th - Geometry Wars:  Retro Evolved 2
  • August 6th - Braid
  • August 13th - Bionic Commando:  Rearmed (AWESOME!)
  • August 20th - Galaga Legions
  • August 27th - Castle Crashers

Now, I don’t own an Xbox, but if I did, I would be pretty darn excited!

Blizzard is Scanning Your Computer?

A year and a half ago, word got out about Blizzard’s practice of “scanning your browsing history and cookies”. Isn’t it enough that they have your WoW account information, your home address, and your credit card number?

This is last year’s news, but it still stands out as an example of accepting some wild claim on a website as gospel.
